Brian is a fabulously generous and gentle teacher. Having not so much as picked up a paintbrush since the age of 11, I attended one of his weekend classes in trepidation at the age of 39. Five years later I’m still attending but as a much improved visual communicator. I made the decision to commit to three terms of regular art classes this year and I’m really starting to feel more comfortable in my artistic expression. Brian is very encouraging even when you feel pretty talentless and under his patient guidance the thing in your head starts to manifest on the page in ways you didn’t even consider. I come away from every class feeling I’ve progressed in some way. Thanks, Brian, for helping me breakdown my mental barriers when gazing at a blank page.
Everyone is welcome at Ancoats Visual Arts group at AWOL Studios! It’s a place to make friendships, where we can share creative ideas, as well as learn new skills and techniques from each other. Some amongst us are exhibiting artists, others are still developing, but we’re all passionate about art! We come from a wide range of backgrounds and enjoy our differences. We hope more people from around Manchester will join us to share their interests and expertise!
