Pottery Classes with Claire Winterton

We had the best time with Claire. She put us at ease straight away, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. it's not easy, especially if it's your first time throwing a pot but Claire made it really accessible, and we were so pleased with the results. Highly recommend without any reservations.

Claire was an absolute delight! She welcomed us into her studio with kindness, humour and a much needed cup of tea after a 4 hour drive in the rain. Claire is fabulously talented and despite us both being novices she was patient and demonstrated what we needed to do in a way that made us both feel comfortable when we made mistakes. Claire is knowledgeable and she was able to answer all our questions with ease. It was a great way to spend our Friday afternoon and we would certainly visit again. It was brilliant and I’m really glad we were able to learn from you Claire. Thank-you.

I’ve been attending Claire’s pottery for several years now and absolutely love it. Claire is an excellent, and very patient!, teacher. Always pushing us to try out new projects and techniques. It’s a lovely studio and a calm atmosphere with great chat and coffee. My kids have also attended her kids classes and have had a great time, making some wonderful, fun pieces which we’ll always treasure.

Claire's pottery classes are my therapy, I've been going to her classes for past 15-20 yrs. I think that speaks for it self. Claire is a great teacher, fun, funny, is patient and always willing to go over issues you may have. We do group projects that are so much fun. Or we are pretty much free to do anything we could possibly imagine. Her studio is well equipped with beautiful views of her garden. I couldn't wish for anything more from Claire .

I did a 10 week course with Claire in January 2023 and it was the most joyous Monday mornings. Claire is a superb tutor, gives you the basics and then lets you crack on to experience it yourself, then she will come in with some tips and tricks to make you an even better potter. When I get the time I am booking back in on another course. Highly recommend, superb distraction of everyday life and you end up with some pretty nice pottery to keep made by your own hands

A wonderful introduction to pottery! My girlfriend and I were complete beginners and we did a one-off session. With Claire’s guidance, we made our own mugs, and I’m thrilled (and a bit surprised!) at how well they turned out. The session was warm, chatty and fun. I would highly recommend to others who would like to try pottery for the first time.
