Phoebe Smith Ceramics

I thoroughly enjoyed my 12 week course with Phoebe over the summer! I’ve done a number of intermediate courses in Bristol at other venues and I feel Phoebe has created a really lovely atmosphere with smaller groups and therefore more 1:1 time. The way she explains her throwing method is really easy to understand. I was very happy to be left to my own devices a lot of the time but really appreciated both Phoebe’s and Flo’s guidance when I needed it. I highly recommend and hope to be back in the New Year.

Phoebe is a very knowledgable and patient teacher and I had a lot of fun on the 12 week course. I chose to do the intermediate course having done a little bit in the past and I relearned many things I had forgotten and some new techniques as well. I’m super happy with the pieces I made and learned so much! Hoping to do some more throwing with Phoebe in the future. Thanks Phoebe ☺️

I have absolutely loved the six week pottery course with Phoebe - she's a brilliant teacher, extremely knowledgeable, patient and supportive. I was a complete beginner really having not done any type of pottery class since school so Phoebe's instruction and guidance was so much appreciated.. Her studio is lovely too, very calming to be in and the whole experience felt very mindful and relaxing. Just a lovely way to spend a Wednesday evening. I will definitely book more classes 🙂

I've tried a few courses in Bristol in the lat decade and I think Phoebe is the best.. I've just finished a six week course and it really helped get my love of clay back. Phoebe was brilliant at helping me get back into the swing of things, demo-ing whenever i needed it and giving me space to get in the flow too. Evenings were gentle and soothing and nicely social.. Really beautiful space, nice inspiration on the walls and super lovely approach. Recommend it if you're a beginner or a experience and need a reset..

I have been going to Phoebe’s pottery classes for over a year now and it continues to be the highlight of my week. Phoebe is a hugely talented potter and an excellent teacher. Phoebe’s classes are a great environment for learning and creativity, and a welcome break from the busyness of life. The class size is small so Phoebe is able to turn to support everyone with their projects, ideas and skill development. You won’t find yourself slip into bad habits or glazing over! Phoebe is adept at working with a mixed ability group, so it’s not pot luck what you’ll come up with. She helps us all to keep ourselves together on the learning curve of the wheel, with warmth and good humour. If you have been wondering about trying pottery classes look no further than Phoebe Smith. It’s cracking and you’ll have a wheelie good time! Also, very good biscuit selection. Thanks.

A brilliant 6 week course with Phoebe, I would love to come again, and recommend to anyone looking for informative, friendly and thoroughly enjoyable pottery workshops. Not to mention the great pieces that we got to take home!!

I recently completed my 4th class with Phoebe, the latest being a 2 day throwing ‘consistency’ workshop. They have all been fantastic! There are only 4 students in the throwing workshops, so you get lots of 1:1 time and can develop so much over a weekend. Phoebe is a great teacher! These classes have reignited my creative side and I’m looking forward to booking on another soon!
