I thoroughly enjoyed my taster session with The Ceramic Garden. Very welcoming people, the atmosphere was calm and friendly, just what you need when you're learning a tricky new skill. Incredibly informative and encouraging - I really look forward to booking the longer courses to carry on my pottery hobby! Thank you so much.

Passing through the blue teal gate took me back in time, back to being 15 and struggling to centre clay on my one experience at the potters wheel! Nikki’s clear, positive explanation of this first step in throwing made this a really enjoyable and successful couple of hours for us. 60 years later, amazed that we had managed to turn lumps of clay into something useable, we picked our pots to be fired, cleaned the studio up and meandered home happily chatting through our various attempts at the wheel! Nikki’s ‘Pottery Taster’ session was great fun and I’ll be back for more! Brian & Denise

I had a lovely afternoon with Nikki, her adorable pooch, the team and the other pottery taster students in a relaxed and welcoming setting. We each had our own wheel and after Nikki had made us familiar with the dynamics of the wheel and taught us how to throw a simple bowl we were let loose to try for ourselves! Nikki spent time with each of us to guide and support us and at the end of the session we all helped to clear up and chose our favourite bowl and glaze colour for firing. I am looking forward to collecting my glazed bowl in a few weeks and would thoroughly recommend the pottery wheel taster session at The Ceramic Garden. I loved it!

I can’t recommend going to the ceramic garden enough! I owe them so much, I had never thrown before going to my first class here, and now I am studying ceramics at uni. It is such a safe space to learn and ask questions and honestly have just a really great laugh! Nikki and Zoe are such incredible people, I already miss my Wednesday class here 🧡

So excited to find a hidden gem so close to home. I wanted to have a try at throwing as I have only done hand building and slip casting before. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Nikki and gorgeous Bella the dog into a tranquil garden which lead to beautiful studio setting. The small group size of 6 ment we received 1:1 support as needed. Nikki’s daughter Zoe modelled how to throw a bowl and off we went exploring the clay and giving it a try ourselves. I have had a spark in me rekindled and I now have the bug and cannot wait to get my own wheel. It was a wonderful experience and I felt so welcomed into their world and home. They were so kind, knowledgeable and passionate about what they do and happily shared this with us all. I highly recommend booking a taster session or course. I hope to do a Raku course in the near future and am just so grateful to have had this opportunity to begin a new skill. Thank you so much.
