Attended a botanical mono print workshop on 12th Aug. Lyn Bailey was a good tutor, explained everything clearly first then let us loose to do our prints. Tea & coffee was provided. A vast array of plant material was provided or we could take our own. The only downside is it’s in the centre of Exeter and if you have driven in the parking charges are quite high. But you can bus or train in. Central station is a 10 min walk away. It was a good course and several prints are achievable to take home. I really enjoyed it.
I went to a free session that they were putting on during the Exeter Art Week. We were able to try different types of printing and created letter pressed and screen printed tote bags, paying a donation for the materials. The volunteers from the double Elephant workshop were really friendly and informative and helped everyone create something unique. It was a really fun experience and it was a great taster of what they have to offer.
Double Elephant is a wonderful, friendly environment in which to create art. I started as a complete printmaking novice and have grown to in both confidence and in my love of a wide variety of printmaking techniques, thanks to their patient tutors. There is always new inspiration to be gained from tutors and other members, and there are always more things to learn. I look forward to continuing my printmaking education!
