Paula Armstrong Ceramics

As a first time potter/ceramicist I have really enjoyed learning. With my wife I attended Paula's beginners course last autumn. We then decided to get more experience by attending a workshop once a week last winter. Paula is an excellent teacher and her layed back style makes you feel at ease. We will return again this autumn and make some more items and hopefully learn many more things about ceramics.

The beginners pottery course was fantastic. Paula is not prescriptive and gives people flexibility to make what interests them within the structure of the course. She is a very clear and supportive instructor. I now attend weekly with a studio membership and love the relaxed atmosphere and the extensive collection of glazes. Highly recommend!

I started with the beginners course, which provided a supportive introduction to the fundamentals of pottery. After the course, I joined the studio membership which has been a brilliant way to continue developing my skills with access to Paula’s expert guidance and encouragement. The studio offers the freedom to explore your own style and experiment with a wide variety of glazes. I would highly recommend Paula’s studio to complete beginners and experienced ceramicists.

Great studio and great tutor! Paula is kind, patient, funny and knows a hell of a lot about ceramics so she has all sorts of tips and tricks. The membership is an absolute bargain, and people of all sorts of mixed abilities attend, a lovely friendly group of people who are always sharing their glazing secrets. The classes are also really fab, very reasonably priced, and lots of fun. I did a raku class and an experimental glazing class - the raku was such a good experience everyone should try it once! The studio itself is packed full of equipment and materials, we have loads and loads of different glazes to play with, and the stock never runs dry. Paula also keeps the firings running very regularly so your work comes back in good time. 10/10 and highly recommended!

I would recommend contacting Paula for small pottery workshop sessions. I got a pottery workshop session as a birthday gift for my girlfriend. Being our first pottery experience, Paula went through the basics (very patiently) and made suggestions and corrections along the way. We ended up having a lovely time and 2 extra vases for our garden!

Paula offers great classes and workshops for children and adults, excellent guidance and lots of space to explore and mess about. highly recommended!
