Sunken Studio

I did two taster sessions in a day at Sunken Studio, and this was a leaving present from my work colleagues. I was unsure whether I would enjoy the day, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I did! I loved throwing a pot in the morning and using the potters wheel, and found it quite relaxing as it was such a tactile experience. The second session was making a mug and this was equally enjoyable but using different skills, such as concentration and attention to detail. I would highly recommend both sessions. They were well taught by both instructors, who were friendly, informative and supportive.

Such a great experience yesterday! I’m on a journey to try all the things I’ve wanted to do but have never had time and found Sunken Studio. Chris was a lovely tutor and was incredibly patient and taught well to all us newbies! I managed to make a bowl (or something that closely resembled one!) and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Hoping to come back for a full course!

Really lovely experience! Had such a good time making a mug, we had a lovely supervisor/teacher, Nova. Unfortunately we ran out of time to add any decoration to the mug. However I definitely feel I have the knowhow to make my own now.

I've done two pot luck sessions at Sunken Studio and really enjoyed both of them. The teaching was clear and helpful and it was so nice to sit and chat to other attendees while creating our pots. A lovely start to the weekend!

We had an absolutely joyful time in the taster throwing. The teacher was great, good amount of time to try stuff out and the studio has a lovely vibe. Everyone managed to make something (although I was very nearly the first person ever not to when I put my hand through my bowl). Would highly recommend as a date location or with friends or solo.

Came for the throwing taster after my partner gifted me a voucher for Christmas and I had a blast. Our teacher was very knowledgeable and helpful (and funny) and I can’t wait to return to the studio in the future

I recently completed the six-week beginners' throwing course at Sunken Studio. We spent two weeks making cylinders, 2 weeks on bowls, one week trimming and the last week glazing. The course was superb and Chris was a great instructor. He clearly has a lot of knowledge of, and passion for ceramics and his style of teaching was spot on. Always on hand for advice but also let us get on and spend as much time on the wheel as possible. I had such a great time that I signed up to studio membership and I genuinely can't think of anything else that has got me out of the house this much! Thanks
