New dawn pottery

I first went to New Dawn for a taster session and loved it so much that I signed up for a 5 week course with Dulce, who is an amazing tutor. The sessions were really well guided and supportive, and I quickly got hooked. I’ve now become a member and couldn’t recommend New Dawn enough, everyone there is so friendly and welcoming. Tips: don’t wear rings, watches or bracelets, tie your hair up and cut your nails before throwing on the wheel (long nails catch). Also wear clothes you don’t mind getting clay on, light colours are actually best because the clay splatters don’t show as much!

Had a really amazing wheel throwing pottery for beginner. Filipa is such an amazing and patient teacher. she showed the process step by step. never tried this before, and we enjoy every second of it. it is really calm and therapeutic, 2 hours went by so fast !

Couple - Tried the two hour beginners class and it was amazing 🤩 great little set up and it was so well run by the lovely Frida. To start we were shown how to use the wheel and then it was our turn. It’s a lot harder than expected but was so fun. We both really enjoyed it and will be back for another go at some point. 10/10 👏 thank you for a great time.

I’ve just finished a 6-week course at New Dawn Pottery, and it’s been such a lovely experience. Dulce is a wonderful teacher — patient, encouraging, and genuinely passionate about ceramics. She explains techniques clearly and creates such a calm, supportive atmosphere in the studio. Every session felt thoughtfully structured, but there was always space to explore and develop our own ideas. Over the six weeks I gained so much confidence with wheel work, trimming and glazing, and it was incredibly satisfying seeing my pieces come to life. The studio itself feels warm and welcoming — a place where you can truly switch off and just enjoy working with clay. I’m so glad I took this course and would wholeheartedly recommend New Dawn Pottery to anyone wanting to deepen their ceramics journey.

My son and I spent a lovely 2 hours in the company of Felipa learning how to throw pottery at the beginners class. She was lovely throughout initially giving the 8 attendees a tutorial and then supporting us whilst we made our own pots. She was very reassuring and helped us with any thing we were struggling with. We both made 3 pots and chose to have 2 glazed and painted in a colour of our choice. We’re very excited to collect them in a few weeks. I enjoyed it so much I’m planning to attend further sessions.

I have wanted to attend a pottery class for so many years and I am so glad that I chose New Dawn Pottery for it. Dulce was a very patient and fun teacher, she talked us through and demonstrated all the basics so I actually feel like I really learnt something. She saved my pots a few times! But never felt like she was ‘taking over’, I was very surprised with what I could do! Would definitely recommend and very reasonably priced for what you get. I made and brought home 3 pots so very happy with the amount of time we had on the wheel. The glaze options were really nice too, the clear and blue were my favourite. I’m excited to book another class soon!
