Katherine Fortnum Ceramics

A truly wonderful experience.I am on holidays from Australia and booked in with Katherine for a mini pottery wheel class - one on one. I have been doing normal scale pottery on the wheel for the past 18 months, and have not been able to find a course at home (mini pottery). It was ideal and Katherine challenged me, teaching me so much. Her space was warm and inviting and looking out onto her beautiful garden was very calming, adding to the ambiance. I feel it is value for money given her experience and the set up. The location was easy to find and street parking was available. I would suggest this experience for the complete beginner or an experience potter. Mini pottery wheel is a new challenge for me and I am excited to head back get a wheel and keep potting. If you are thinking of Katherine and a class - go for it.

Our family had a truly wonderful experience at a ceramics workshop with Katherine. First, she worked with me to schedule a last minute request as my daughter really wanted to find an artsy activity to do while her friend visited. Katherine welcomed us and gave a great explanation as to how the workshop would go, our options, time frame, pointers, etc. Though she is clearly an expert in her field, she always made us feel like we were learning from a friend. This made our experience even better. Katherine made suggestions for us but we were basically given the freedom to create how we wanted. She advised on techniques and glazes as well. I felt the value for the price was perfect- and I felt our experience exceeded expectations. This was a private session so we didn't have to worry about interfering with others' time, which was also great. I can't recommend Katherine's workshop enough and will definitely be booking again.

Katherine was simply amazing! Our daughter has a range of SEN and she made her instantly feel at ease. Lovely warm studio and lots of laughter alongside learning a new skill. Can’t recommend her enough!

I highly recommend booking a ceramic workshop with Katherine. My Mum and I attended a private 2-hour workshop in September 2024, where we made bespoke plaques. We both had such a fantastic time, that we booked again in February 2025 for a longer workshop. Both workshops were informative, fun, and relaxing. We will definitely be booking another session soon. Katherine is such a wonderful lady and a superb teacher. She is very knowledgeable and breaks each step down clearly to help guide you toward your finished item. She is really easy to talk to and is so patient, nothing is too much trouble. The workshops are held in her fantastic studio, which is warm and welcoming and very well-equipped. It is situated within a lovely garden and it is such a relaxing environment to create in. Wonderful experiences, I would definitely recommend!

Yesterday, I attended a ceramic workshop for two, ( with my Mum), hosted by Katherine Fortnum. Not knowing what to really expect and both being novices, we had a great experience. Katherine articulated each step extremely well. Neither of knew we were quite so artistic. Cannot wait to see the finished look once it has been completely dried.
