I booked a throw down with my wife and we attended this weekend under the guidance of pottery wizard Chris. He was super patient and guided us through 2 builds. As pottery novices we were taught how to throw a pot on a wheel. It’s much more than you see on tv or expect. There are so many intricacies to pottery. We had a great 2 hours and are going back to decorate our masterpieces later. Thank you to Fatclay Pottery for a great afternoon. Michael and Sharon

This was a great activity to do with friends …. even if they think they are not artistic! Matt was welcoming and went through different ideas and methods to sale the clay. We all got stuck in and Matt gave tips and support along the way. We had a fantastic time and were so pleased with our final creations which now have to be fired . This was NOT a corporate event and that is why I loved it so much. Matt is a true expert and passionate about working with clay . We could have more clay if needed and nothing was too much trouble but . The venue for this session was a barn which had been warmed up by heaters but soon a newly revamped building with pottery wheels etc will be ready which Matt was super excited about. All 5 of us agreed that this was an excellent experience.

Had the most amazing experience, learning how to make something from nothing. The free hand class is a welcome pace, informative but not overwhelming. Matt was very encouraging and knowledgeable. Had a wonderful time with my niece (age 13) Will be back for more

I did a wheel throwing taster session at Fatclay, followed by a six week wheel throwing course. It was a fantastic experience with friendly and knowledgeable tutors in a lovely calm and creative environment. I've now become a member so I can go every week and start to build on my skills. Highly recommended!

We did the kids wheel throwing taster and they absolutely loved it. We are going back to decorate what they made. Matt was so patient, knowledgeable and encouraging. I have and will continue to recommend this to my friends.

Got my hands dirty (in the best way) throwing clay for the first time! 🍶 My boyfriend absolutely nailed my birthday surprise with a private lesson at Fatclay - finally got to tick this one off the bucket list, and it was worth the wait. We loved it. Matt managed to squeeze us in, last minute, after being incredibly responsive on social media. This speaks volumes. 🙌 Matt, teacher/all-around legend, was calm, funny, and had the patience of a saint. We both came out with two pots each. Testament to his teaching, we didn’t do too badly at all. The studio is such a, chill, lovely space too. The walls are covered in very impressive members pieces to purchase. The talent in this studio is incredible. They offer drinks, which is fab for date nights, celebrations, or just a cheeky glass whilst creating. We would 100% recommend if you’re ever in Portsmouth.
