The Ceramics Studio

Absolutely brilliant day at the ceramics studio doing a plates session followed by a lids session. Leyla was an excellent teacher, really clear demonstration with plenty of support once we got going for ourselves. I would thoroughly recommend anyone who wants to improve their pottery technique and have a lovely day to book in!

I attended the Introduction to throwing class, brought for me as a gift. What a great experience it was. Layla, Gaye, and Melissa where all lovely, friendly, informative and full of encouragement. The studio has a creative magical feeling to it. The class started with Layla doing a demo of how she throws, then she did another but stopped to explain all of the steps. Then it was off to our wheels, 400G of clay ball and off we all went. The team where then on hand to guide us as we got a feel for the clay, and the wheel. I managed to get of 3 pretty respectable pots 😁. If you're thinking about getting into Ceramics, get of to The Ceramics Studio, they are just the best.

Leyla and Gaye are brilliant tutors and guide you gently into a totally absorbing craft. They are very experienced, incredibly skilled, patient, and generally lovely, If you want to learn about pottery then this is the place to go. Totally recommended.

I attended a pottery class today, and it was the best experience I had in a long time. Leyla and Gaye are adorable people, super skilled, with lots of experience, and put a lovely touch in the way they teach pottery techniques. I can say I not only learned a lot about pottery, but also spent a lovely day with fabulous people, having nice chats, great coffee, and good laughs. I absolutely recommend it!

I had the most wonderful afternoon at The Ceramics Studio taking part in their Beginners Pottery Throwing class. From the moment I stepped through the door, I felt completely at ease. Leyla, our teacher, is absolutely brilliant—her love for ceramics shines through in everything she does. She's not only incredibly talented but also kind, encouraging, and wonderfully calming, creating the perfect laid-back environment for creativity to flow. Even as a beginner, I came away with a few pieces I was genuinely proud of—and I had so much fun in the process! I left feeling relaxed, inspired, and eager to come back. Since that first class, I've returned time and time again—I've well and truly caught the pottery bug! From plate throwing to moonjar and troubleshooting classes, every session has been a joy. The peaceful, welcoming atmosphere Leyla and the team have created at The Ceramics Studio is something truly special. Whether you're curious to try something new, looking to unwind, or wanting to deepen your pottery skills, I can't recommend this place enough. It's a creative sanctuary and an absolute gem of a studio.

I had such a lovely time - my first attempt at throwing pots since I was a teenager! Leyla was a very instructive and patient tutor and Gaye was very supportive too, once we started, gently reinforcing how to get through the various stages from block to pot. I can’t believe how much fun I had, meeting others as green (but as eager) as me and I felt very proud of my final efforts. And yes, I will be signing up to do more! Thank you Leyla and Gaye xx

The Ceramics Studio is an inspirational and nurturing space to learn how to throw pots and sculpt with clay. I loved my two-day throwing course with Leyla, who gave us her full attention and care. I feel I'm starting to make progress towards becoming a potter!
