The Clay Yard

We went as a group of four, none of us had ever tried pottery before and we were well out of our comfort zone. Alison is a brilliant tutor. She is patient, encouraging, and she made the whole experience such good fun. She made it look easy (it definitely isn’t!) but somehow we all ended up with pots we were genuinely proud of. A really memorable experience and one we’ll be talking about for a long time. Loved every minute!

Weekend intensive throwing course with Julia. A wonderful 2 days throwing! Julia goes above and beyond to make sure you have the best experience possible. Highly recommend ! she made everyone feel very welcome and catered to everyone’s individual needs. Talking about catering … lunch on both days were amazing and so delicious! Loved every minute of the weekend. Thank you clay yard.

I have really enjoyed my first "Membership" experience at the Craft Yard in Totnes this August. I could get so much more work done with fewer potters in the space and I also really enjoyed meeting and getting to know potters from different classes. I would highly recommend the Membership scheme.

I had the best afternoon completely a workshop with Alison. From the moment we stepped into the studio, Alison made us feel incredibly at ease and had laughing! She showed us the techniques of pottery throwing and was on hand to help and offer advice throughout! Would highly recommend completing pottery throwing workshop at the Clay Yard!

I have done 3 throwing courses at The Clay Yard now and absolutely love it. The tutors are hugely knowledgeable and very good at working with you at your own pace. They’re also very patient and lessons have been relaxed and fun. The studio is well equipped with everything you could possibly need and more and you’re encouraged and supported to try new techniques and ask lots of questions. I’ll definitely be returning. We booked a private family session with Alison at The Clay Yard, it was brilliant! Alison guided us through every step of the way. It was a delight to see the kids faces when throwing pots - so happy. I would definitely recommend booking in for a class if you’re in the area looking for something different to do.
