Great experience of a 6 week beginners course at the Community Pottery! This was a first for me. I learnt so much in 5 weeks (missed a week), from wedging, centring, throwing, using slips, glazing and loved making my own glaze! Dan is a fab teacher and the environment is really friendly and inclusive. Will be back in the future I'm sure! Big thanks!
My friends kindly bought me a 2hr 1-to-1 lesson for my birthday. I booked it in easily and had a great lesson with Dan. He was very welcoming and friendly. Has the patience of a saint and makes an excellent teacher. I’m excited to pick up my finished pieces and will definitely be going back for future sessions. Thank you!
I did a six week beginners' course with Dan, and it was fantastic. Dan's very skilled, and a lovely guy. It's a great chance to meet some other friendly, creative people from the area. And I love that it's in St Anne's Community Centre. It's great to have a shared space like that, dedicated to community projects. The course was well worth the money and I'd love to do another one. Definitely recommend.
I could not recommend the Community Pottery in St Anne's enough! I took my students to a day-long workshop Dan, Maria and Shelomi had co-created exploring the story of clay and water and the industrialisation of the Bristol and beyond. We spent the afternoon hand building clay Botijos which were fired so every student could keep theirs. The Pottery was so well stocked and comfortable. The quality of teaching was next to none. I can't wait to collaborate with this team again! Kizzie at Shift Bristol
Absolutely loved our time at the Community Pottery! We spent an unforgettable afternoon at the studio, guided by Dan’s expert and friendly tuition. The class was both relaxing and packed with insightful tips, perfect for beginners like us! We arrived with only a basic idea of pottery and throwing but left with beautiful pots and a plate we’re so proud of. A huge thank you for such a fantastic experience! Highly recommended!
As a beginner I've been taught by both Raphaela & Dan at the Community pottery and both were so great. They explain everything in a clear, friendly and calmly way and after my first class I learnt how to make a couple of cute bowls. It's such a lovely sunny studio space too, with everything you need to learn how to create lovely pots. I can't wait to come back for another class or course.
My husband had a brilliant one-to-one pottery wheel experience and couldn’t recommend it more. He said Dan the tutor was patient, encouraging, and genuinely great at explaining what to do without taking over. Really enjoyed it; a big recommendation from him.
