Just the most amazing place! We met Subi in the morning, and she is one of the most welcoming and kind people you could meet in a morning! She was gracious enough to welcome us into the studio even though it wasn’t yet open! We were simply walking past before opening time when we came across this amazing place! I’m sure she is a wonderful potter and an inspiring tutor. Her kindness and generosity genuinely inspired us as we prepare to open our own studio in Birmingham!! I’m rating this place as truly amazing simply because!!!… not only for the impressive pottery space, but for the wonderful humans who make it feel so magical. Best wishes to you guys!!!
I had a fantastic experience with a 12 week course at Mud Gang. The teachers were very kind, helpful and patient and we were free to pursue our own ideas once we had grasped the fundamentals. The studio space is also bright and airy with a charismatic resident cat, and everyone is nice and friendly. I would highly recommend to others who are interested in a beginner pottery course!
Mud Gang is amazing! They just moved to a new location and the studio is so much bigger. It’s one of the only community focused pottery studios in London and it’s very special. Booking workshops is super flexible and suitable for all levels. I’ve met so many amazing people here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for memberships, workshops, courses, or private events!!
I remember the first time I stopped by Mud Gang to inquire about membership I was taken aback by the incredibly charming and warm atmosphere and amazing creative space. Shortly after, I applied to join this community - not realizing that I would form such close and special relationships with other members and patrons. It really did feel like a home away from home. Would highly recommend for ceramicists of all levels; there are amazing beginner's work shops, mixers + social events, and plenty of clay for all. I truly love Mud Gang, it is one of a kind.
I signed up for a course at Mud Gang and had the best time! The teacher was able to give equal attention to all students and was also super flexible which really allowed the students to explore their individual creativity. I then went on to become a member towards the end of the course and this is now my go-to place in my free time. The staff and other members are lovely and the studio has a chill and inclusive environment.
I did one of the throwing courses at mudgang and have been here since. It is such a lovely studio with lovely people who share their tips and help each other creatively. I have learnt a lot about ceramics in my time at Mudgang and I was a total newbie before I joined. The studio itself is a good size, with big open doors at the front which creates a lovely atmosphere with the community passing by. Lovely place, lovely people and of course Ash the cat is a highlight
Yesterday was my last day at Mud Gang after almost a year of being a member. Being at Mud Gang has been such a bittersweet experience. It was both incredible to have the opportunity to keep doing pottery over the lockdown, and such a heartache to see the staff routinely showing poor ethics. Adding to that was the not so occasional over or underfiring of the members' work, a glaze firing that was once ran on a full kiln of bisque, and in the previous studio location, regular breakage of bone dry work from trying to fit too much in limited drying space (much improved in the new location) I won't lie, I've had my faults as well, more than once trying out some new glazes and damaging kiln shelves (which I have repaid in full) As for the membership format in itself, you can either book for 12 hours (£185/month) or 18 hours (£230/month). The studio is opened to members from: -10am - 6pm on Mon, Wed, Fri - 10am - 9pm on Tues, Thur, Sat - 11am - 6pm on Sund Members can book their hours on a shared Google doc, and the studio is currently limited to 4 member at a time. However these times often change without much notice, and it can be difficult to fit all your hours due to a fair amount of members.
