What a fantastic pottery class! Richard was incredibly knowledgeable and patient, guiding us through each step of the throwing process with clear instructions and helpful tips on how to use the wheel. By the end of the class, not only did we create some beautiful pieces but also gained a deeper appreciation for the art of pottery. I highly recommend Richard Wilks Pottery and Clay Courses to anyone looking to dive into the world of pottery and have great fun!

Me and my partner went for our first pottery taster session today. We both loved it! Richard was brilliant, patient and friendly. Would definitely recommend! Can’t wait to come back to decorate our bowls!

I came to Richard at very short notice with the aim of creating a body of work for my university interviews. Over the next 2 weeks I attended both 1 to 1 and group sessions and Richard was able to teach me how to create a two part mould sculpture, ideal for my university application. His patience and expertise meant that I learnt a detailed process very quickly and was able to produce something I was happy with. Richard went out of his way to ensure I would have a completed sculpture and I have a lot to thank him for. Using the sculpture I produced, I was offered an unconditional place at university and will begin a 3D Design and Craft course at Brighton in September, a great deal of the reason I’m able to do this is down to Richard’s time, commitment and love for his practice.

I am thoroughly enjoying my pottery classes, and highly recommend Richard Wilks as a tutor in both ceramics and sculpture. Over the weeks he has taught me many different pottery techniques - from throwing, coil and slab work; to experimenting with different decorating techniques in slip and under-glazes. I had a course given to me as a gift and was a bit unsure to start with, but soon felt reassured as the classes are small, relaxed and fun. The lessons have enabled me to experiment and produce a variety of different pots and bowls and have found a passion for creating unique pieces.

We took our four children to do ceramic with Richards and it was such a hit. Richard is very patient and demonstrates very well. Def recommend doing ceramics with Richard
